It started with the mailbox.
After back surgery in 2019, walking to the mailbox was my starting point. Years later, I still couldn't keep up on family hikes, so we picked the easier trails.
So in 2026, I set out with a goal to walk at least one mile a day for all 365 days in the year. Nearly 45 pounds down, I'm more capable than I've been in years, and I've regained more than my physical health. My sense of adventure had been parked, and it has now returned.
Walk Year is my invitation to you. Start wherever you are, even if that's the mailbox.
